Psychotherapy

From curing life’s common stresses and conflicts to serious mental health disorders, our psychologists explore various forms of psychotherapy practices to help individuals find solace.

The primary goal is to help people understand their emotions, thoughts and behaviours, identify and modify negative patterns, develop coping skills and ultimately improve overall quality of life. Psychotherapy is rooted in conversation, where a therapist combines a host of other effective techniques like Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), Behavioural Therapy, Emotional Focused Therapy to find the best possible outcome for the patient.

Client Centred Therapy

We integrate Client Centred Therapy in our overall psychotherapy treatment approach, prioritizing client’s unique needs, preferences and goals in the therapeutic process. This method tends to give client more confidence and enable candour exchanges.

Solution Focused Therapy

We also incorporate Solution Focused Therapy in our overall psychotherapy treatment on a case-to-case basis. Those who seek our services come with the intention of finding solutions. As the name indicates, Solution Focused Therapy emphasizes finding solutions and creating positive change in a person’s life rather than dwelling on the problems that brought them to therapy. It is based on the idea that people already have the skills to overcome their problems, the therapist’s role is to help them access these resources and use them. This form can be beneficial for a various range of mental health problems, including depression, anxiety, addiction issues, relationship issues and so on.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Another method we use is the EMDR therapy, a technique to treat people who have experienced traumatic or distressing life events. EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy is particularly effective in treating PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions that can be caused or exacerbated by past traumatic experiences.

This therapy creates a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their past traumatic experiences and learn new coping skills. During the session, the therapist will guide the client through a series of eye movements, sounds, or taps while the client recalls the traumatic experience. The goal is to help the client process the traumatic memory in a way that reduces the associated emotional distress and helps develop more adaptive coping strategies.

One of the key benefits of EMDR therapy is that it can be a relatively short-term treatment. Unlike some other psychotherapies that can take months or years to see significant results, many people experience positive changes after just a few sessions of EMDR therapy.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) & Psychodynamic Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is another approach in our broader psychotherapy treatment spectrum. CBT is a type of talk therapy to identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviours that are contributing to a person’s mental health issues. People suffering from anxiety disorders, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other conditions are some of the beneficiaries.

Psychodynamics is the type of talk therapy for individuals who are willing to engage in a deeper exploration of their inner world and work towards developing a greater understanding of themselves and their relationships. It focuses on exploring unconscious thoughts and feelings that may be contributing to a person’s emotional distress and behavioural patterns. By uncovering and addressing underlying issues, clients can experience significant improvements in their emotional well-being and overall quality of life. Both CBT and psychodynamic therapy can be tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual client.
